Opening times tend to be from 0700 – 2000 Mon – Fri and 0900 – 1200 Sat. We are closed on Sunday. We do run 0630 sessions in the week, so always check the timetable for the most up to date schedule. If the slot is on the timetable, it is going ahead. If there is no slot showing, it has been cancelled.
No. Our membership subscriptions include unlimited use of the gym during Gym Only session times, found on the timetable. All memberships include classes, whether they are used or not.
Yes. There are separate male and female changing rooms and showers for everyone to use. Kitted out with toiletries for your convenience.
No. You are welcome to book any of our personal training packages and attend those sessions with your trainer. No gym membership is required. If, however, you want to attend the gym outside of your 1-2-1 PT time, you will need to book in to a Gym Only slot which will require either a PAYG or subscription membership.
Yes! This means you are a pay as you go member (PAYG). Once you have created your account you can register for as many or as few classes and gym only sessions as you like, paying for each session without the monthly commitment. Your account will remain live until you decide you no longer need it. Given our competitive prices, however, you may find that a membership is more cost effective depending on how many times you are planning on visiting.
We have an app! Available on android and IOS. Search Target Active Fitness in your app store and you will find us. Once you have created your account through our website, you will have your own personal log in. You can use this to log into our app, where you will find the timetable and easy booking button (this is also where you can cancel classes/sessions you can no longer make). Here you will also find all the latest news from us here and join in on gym challenges. You can also log your progress, whether that’s the weights you are able to lift, or your nutrition.
No, unfortunately. All attendees must have an account as well as pre-register for their session. You can book up to 8 days in advance. This is for a number of reasons. 1. There are a limited number of places for each session, including gym only slots. 2. We are pretty much a cashless business. 3. We need to know who is attending and you must have completed the online registration forms for insurance purposes.
As long as there is a slot available, you have a valid membership and an account, you can register for sessions right up to the start time.
Simply log into your account using our app and cancel your place up to an hour before the class starts. Please don’t just ‘no show’. Our classes can get busy and by cancelling you allow others to take your space.
Absolutely! Our classes are the best way to start to increase your fitness. Each of our classes can be adapted for your ability. You can take things at your own pace and push when you feel more confident. There is no judgment and no egos. Just everyone striving to reach their own personal goals.
We are a supportive bunch. There will always be a friendly instructor in every class to help you out and demo exercises. We all started somewhere, and we would be delighted to welcome you to start you on your fitness journey.
You can start using the gym and attending classes from 16 years old. There is no age cap, we have many members who attend regularly who are well into their 70s. There really is something for everyone.
Yes. The DD mandate is how the payment is processed. This means even one off, ad-hoc sessions can be paid using the DD process. Setting up a DD mandate does not always mean there is a regular payment scheduled. PAYG sessions are paid for with DD. You will only pay for the sessions you attend.
No. Our discounts and great value membership options are open to everyone. Use discount code TAFIT1 and you have your first session FREE to try us out and see what you think.

To join the Level 2/3 Personal Training course, you must be 16 years old or over, physically able to do the work, and have good communication skills. There is no upper age limit, and mature students are especially welcome!
No pre-qualifications are necessary.
This depends on your previous experience, but we estimate a minimum of four hours a week. As an example, one student with no prior educational qualifications or experience successfully completed the course by doing just an hour of study per night.
The next course starts on 6th September 2025 and places are limited.
We will be running 4 courses a year, with the next course after September starting in January 2026.
The course takes 10 weeks to complete. This is a mixture of face-to-face practical sessions (held for 10 consecutive Saturdays) and online home-based learning.
You get an OfQUAL nationally regulated qualification that is a LEVEL 3 Personal Training Diploma.
Level 3 is a protected UK government standard and courses which are “Level 3” need to be at that required certified standard. If a course says “Personal Training Diploma” then it is usually NOT at the official government Level 3 requirement. OFQUAL is the gold standard and means that the course will be nationally recognised by such organisations as CIMSPA (formerly REPS).
YES, this course is recognised by CIMSPA.
Yes. In Week One of the course, you will register with the Association of Independent Personal Trainers to access resources from the online student hub. You will have lifelong access to these resources which are updated. On successful completion of the course, you can join the Association of Independent Personal Trainers as an associate member. This is where you will be able to purchase your commercial insurance. Once a member of the Association of Independent Personal Trainers you will be able to access support and ongoing help.
At the end of the course, there will be an Examination Board meeting of the tutors on the course as well as outside representatives who are there to guarantee that the correct standard has been reached. When the Board has agreed that you HAVE reached the correct standard, certificates will be issued.
Our aim in teaching you on this course is to prepare you to be as ready, prepared and confident to take your place as a personal trainer in the fitness industry as it is possible to be. This could be working as an employee with another organisation, as a self-employed practitioner setting up on your own or even as part of our team. To do this, we have a number of added-value extras that most other companies are unable to provide.
Unlike many training providers, including further education colleges, we are an organisation that provides personal training to actual clients. So you will be trained by a company at the heart of the fitness industry, who are offering personal training to real clients. We are always looking for talented newly-qualified personal trainers to join our team. We prefer to offer jobs to our former students before advertising more widely.
Almost always, someone will have to miss one of the dates through no fault of their own and the course has been designed to accommodate this. Because the course has competency-based assessments rather than set examinations, this allows for flexibility. However, we do recommend that you attend as many as possible to assist in your learning.
